Q1 Which iPad should I purchase?
A.
An iPad (9.7 in) or iPad mini (7.9 in) is the best. The 12.9 in iPad Pro would be too large. In order to download the app, please be sure to have at least 3 gigabyte of space available on the iPad, as well as having the iPadOS updated to at least 13.
Q2Can I use an Android Tablet?
A.
SoroTouch App is available on Google Play from April 2022. For more details on the operation checked devices, please check the Operation Checked Devices.
Q3If I want all of my children to use SoroTouch, do I need to purchase a Tablet per child?
A.
It is possible to change accounts within the app, therefore, one Tablet will suffice. However, if each child will be working on SoroTouch at the same time, it would be best to have a Tablet per child.
Q4Do I need to purchase anything other than a Tablet?
A.
E-Students only need a Tablet to use SoroTouch. Regular students will be using written tests and SoroTouch boards.
Q5Will an abacus/soroban be used?
A.
No, we do not use abacus/soroban in our curriculum.
Q6From what age can my child start?
A.
As long as your child is able to at least count to 10, can read and write, and can understand video explanations, any age is okay.
The materials have been made to best fit 5 to 8 year olds.
At the lab centers, any children between pre-k and second grade are accepted. Enrollment is accepted up to 6th grade.
Q7Is it possible to attend both SoroTouch and math tutoring classes at the same time?
A.
We recommend that the students do only one at a time. This is because the method of learning, i.e. through imaging and through numerical calculation, is vastly different and may cause confusion when memorizing how to image the abacus/soroban beads. We recommend that if the child is already in a math tutoring class, they should continue with what they are already used to. Otherwise, after mastering SoroTouch, we highly recommend continuing onto math tutoring classes, if choosing to do so.
Q8Can someone who already does soroban/uses an abacus start SoroTouch?
A.
It is possible for people with soroban/abacus experience to start using SoroTouch. However, due to the difference in the use of hand movement between the abacus (vertical movement) and SoroTouch (on/off movement), and the difference between one-hand and two-handed methods, we do not recommend using SoroTouch combined with the abacus.
Q9Can adults also learn SoroTouch?
A.
Yes! The app is listed in the App Store, therefore anyone can start SoroTouch. However, we warn that there may be difficulties for adults to start training at a later age, yet it can helps train and keep the brain active.
Q10What is the difference between a Center (regular) student and an E-Student?
A.
The regular students are students that come to our center once a week. The benefits to this is being able to make new friends at the center, learning directly from teachers and getting immediate help for anything students do not understand. Going to the center also encourages motivation and competitiveness for students for their work. There are also written tests and other materials given out only at the centers.
E-Students are students that do not have to attend the center classes. The benefits are being able to work at your own pace for however long and whenever you would like to. However, there may be an issue with motivation to do work. There are over 20 different kinds of games available, therefore there will always be something to do in the app.
We also recommend that both Center (regular) students and E-Students to set the goal to pass the Global Mental Calculation Test.
Q11Is it possible to do SoroTouch abroad?
A.
You can study as an E-student if you live in one of the following countries or regions: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States.

Q14I never learned how to use an abacus, can my student learn?
A.
You do not have to know how to use an abacus for your student to be able to learn it. SoroTouch is the teacher. Please help your students by encouraging them to practice. If you have any questions, please email us.

SoroTouch’s free trial period starts from the day of your registration and ends on the last day of the same month. It is encouraged that you register to use the SoroTouch app at the beginning of the month so you can enjoy the app for a longer time.
Q22If I am a E-student, can I become a Center student?
A.
It is possible to switch from an E-student to a Center student. By providing the account information you use as an E-student (nickname, email address) to the SoroTouch Center where you wish to attend classes, your learning history can be carried over. No deletion, termination,or suspension of your E-student enrollment is required when switching to a Center student. Please be aware that if you proceed with deletion or termination, all your learning history will be erased.
※ To avoid overlapping charges for the first month's tuition and the E-student usage fee, please notify the Center by the end of the month prior to the month you wish to enroll as a Center student. Please note that the process of switching to Center student status may take a few days, so we recommend contacting the Center with sufficient time in advance.
